Rift to Reef

Nairobi · Kenya

There is no single right way to discover Kenya.

Safari. Ocean. Desert. Lakes. Nairobi. Adventure. Relaxation. Real life. Build your journey from the pieces you actually want, at the level you choose — any time of year, for as many days as you like.

01 — Who we are

We are Peter and Moreen, and together we know Kenya from two different perspectives.

Rift to Reef Adventures was born from our shared love for Kenya and our desire to show the country in a way that is authentic, personal and shaped around each traveller's interests.

We believe Kenya is far more than safari. It is a country of contrasts — diverse cultures, vibrant cities, breathtaking landscapes, remarkable people, and stories waiting to be discovered.

Peter

Slovak · in Kenya 10+ years

Through my work in the social sector I have been involved in development projects across the country, which gave me the chance to experience Kenya well beyond the usual tourist routes.

That has let me understand Kenya not only as a traveller, but through everyday life, work, and relationships with the communities I have come to know.

Moreen

Kenyan · Mount Kenya & the Rift

Moreen is Kenyan and the founder of an established Kenyan travel agency, with deep roots on the eastern slopes of Mount Kenya where the highlands meet the Rift Valley.

Her local knowledge, personal relationships and trusted connections across the country bring an authentic Kenyan perspective to everything we do.

From the wilderness to the Indian Ocean, we want to help you experience Kenya not simply as a destination, but as a place to connect with, understand, and remember.

02 — Build your own Kenya

Not packages.
Pieces.

Most operators sell you a finished trip. We give you the pieces and build the journey around what you actually want to see.

Choose the modules that interest you, tell us how long you have, and we assemble them into one journey. Travelling solo, as a couple, with family or with friends — and if you have an idea of your own, even something that has never been done before, we will help make it happen.

Your own idea

Something that isn't on the list — even something never done before. Tell us and we will build it.

03 — Three levels

Then choose how
it is run.

The modules decide what you do. The level decides how — the rooms you sleep in, whether the vehicle is yours alone, how far you drive rather than fly. Any level can be applied to any combination of modules, for any length of trip.

Level one

Essential

Everything that matters, nothing that doesn't. Honest rooms, shared vehicles, more road than air.

€150–220

per person, per day

  • Mid-range lodges and guesthouses
  • Shared safari vehicle
  • Road transfers throughout
  • Full board on safari days

Level two

Signature

Your own vehicle and guide, better rooms, and a flight where it saves you a whole day of driving.

€260–380

per person, per day

  • Upper mid-range lodges and tented camps
  • Private 4×4 and your own driver-guide
  • Road, plus internal flights where they help
  • Full board, and a pace you set

Level three

Premium

Quiet camps away from the main circuit, senior guiding, and as little time in transit as the map allows.

€450+

per person, per day

  • Luxury camps, conservancies, boutique hotels
  • Private vehicle and a senior guide
  • Internal flights wherever they save time
  • Full board, most drinks, flexible everything

Day rates are indicative and depend on season, group size and which modules you choose — parks with high entry fees cost more per day than time on the coast. You always receive an exact written quote before anything is booked.

04 — Examples

Three people who
chose differently.

None of these is a package you can buy. They are three real shapes a journey can take, to show how the pieces fit together — yours will look like none of them.

05 — Where you stay

The beds are
half the trip.

Accommodation is never quoted separately. Whatever modules you pick, the roof over your head is inside the same plan and the same price.

A journey that crosses the country sleeps in very different places along the way — a lodge inside a park, a tented camp on the plain, a Nairobi hotel between flights, a room above the ocean. We book all of it, and the standard follows the level you chose.

A room, a veranda, or a camp at dusk — one of the places you actually put people

01

In the parks

Lodges and tented camps inside or on the edge of the reserves, so the early game drive starts from your door rather than two hours away.

02

Nairobi, between things

Long-haul flights rarely line up with game drives. We book the city nights either side so nobody lands at dawn and drives straight to a park.

03

On the ocean

The reef end of the name. Most people who come this far finish on the Indian Ocean, and that stretch is booked into the same itinerary as everything before it.

04

Stays on their own

If you only need the beds — a lodge, a camp, a city hotel — we will arrange that too. Say what you are looking for.

06 — What we handle

All of it,
unless you'd rather not.

Because no two journeys here are the same, there is no fixed inclusion list — what a trip needs depends on what is in it. These are the things we take off your hands as standard.

  • 01 Every night's accommodation, wherever the route goes
  • 02 Park, reserve and conservancy entry fees
  • 03 Vehicles, fuel, drivers and English-speaking guides
  • 04 Airport pickups, drop-offs and transfers between modules
  • 05 Internal flights, where your level includes them
  • 06 Meals as set out in your itinerary, and water in the vehicle
  • 07 Introductions and permissions for community visits
  • 08 Someone reachable on WhatsApp, start to finish

Not included

International flights, Kenyan electronic travel authorisation, travel insurance, tips, and anything personal you buy along the way. We will tell you what each of those is likely to cost before you commit to anything.

07 — How it works

Three steps. The first takes a minute.

01

Message us

Roughly when you would like to travel, how many people, and which adventure caught your eye. Nothing binding, no forms.

02

We create the plan

We create a day-by-day itinerary around your interests, with clear options and costs. Change anything you like before you commit.

03

You travel. We are there.

We handle everything. You experience Kenya. We stay connected throughout your adventure.

08 — Questions

Asked first,
most often.

Can I travel outside your examples? +

That is the entire point. The examples exist only to show how the pieces fit together — nobody has to buy one. Pick the modules you want, in the order you want, for however many days you have, and we will build around that.

How much will my trip actually cost? +

Take your level's day rate, multiply by the number of days, and you will be close. The variables are season, group size and which modules you choose — parks with high entry fees cost more per day than time on the coast. You get an exact figure in writing before anything is booked.

Can I mix levels within one journey? +

Yes, and people often do — Signature for the safari days where the vehicle and the guide matter most, Essential for the city nights, one Premium camp as a treat at the end. Say what matters to you and we will put the money there.

When is the best time to come? +

June to October is dry season and the classic choice for wildlife. January and February are hot, green and quieter. April and May are the long rains — fewer people, lower prices, muddier roads. But we run journeys all year, and the coast keeps working when the parks are wet. Tell us your dates and we will be straight with you.

Is it suitable for children? +

Yes, and families are very welcome. Some camps set minimum ages and long drive days are hard on small children, so we choose modules and pacing around that rather than pretending one plan fits every age. Mention the ages when you first message us.

How and when do I pay? +

Nothing is paid through this website. Once you are happy with the written itinerary we agree a deposit to hold the lodges and flights, with the balance closer to travel. Payment details come directly from us, in writing, with an invoice from Rift to Reef Adventures LTD.

What do I need to enter Kenya? +

A passport valid at least six months beyond arrival, and an electronic travel authorisation applied for online before you fly. Requirements change, so check your own government's current advice — we will point you at the official pages, but the application is yours to make.

Travel your way

You choose what you want to experience. We create a journey that is truly yours — one where you leave your footprints in Kenya, and return home with Kenya leaving its footprints on your heart.
